Out Of Memory Error Message

I'm using Image Composer V1.5 and when I try to lighten an
image that's 2048 x 1536 pixels (my cameras max.
resolution) I get an "Out of Memory" error.

The system is running Win 2000, and has 768 meg of memory
installed.

I'm not running any other applications when this happens.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Orin,
I have just had the same problem. I wanted to edit a 1.2M jpeg. When I
tried to do so, I got the out of memory error. Microsoft doesn't
support its Image Composer pages anymore. After working with our Help
Team, we THINK that the image resolution is also a factor, not just
size. We used Print Key 2000 to open and save image. It reduced it to
262kb and apparently reduced the resolution to workable parameter for
Image Composer. I can now edit the image which doesn't seem to have
lost any eyeball quality.

This is a workaround rather than an answer. Would still like hear
others opinions.
